Pokerist Texas Poker - Not Just A Pretty Face

There’s no doubt that Pokerist has always been a pioneer in the social gaming space and has been seen as a key standard bearer since its launch in 2010. Focusing on delivering the best social experience, Pokerist has always been innovative. Truely slick game-play, random number generator (RNG), single tap action buttons, integrated chat, its lobby design, and support for 28 languages all made Pokerist one of the industry’s top titles in the world and by far one of the most recognised app icons.

In other words, we made sure we focused on the core game and kept Pokerist a gaming product rather than turn it into an advertising billboard.

Over the years, Pokerist Texas Poker has been able to cater to the poker enthusiasts who prefer the experience of a mobile poker app and the interaction with like-minded players."

At the same time, it is evident that the more casual players are seeking a short, bite-sized gaming experience, and are finding their “fix” in the type of casino-style apps that include titles such as Roulettist and 3D BlackJack, as well as the classic Sit ‘N’ Go poker varient.

So, whilst KamaGames’ portfolio of social casino games has expanded above and beyond Pokerist, the same social components have remained at the heart of the experience, which when coupled with our proprietary RNG and clear focus on streamlining game-play, enables the delivery of a gaming experience which is, in its core, casual, social, fair and most importantly fun.

"Rapid changes in device capabilities, the availability of broadband connectivity, penetation of mobile device as a first (and sometimes–only) computing device and user preferences have clearly made their impact on the consumer with a visible shift from desktop computers to mobile devices."

The social gaming genre has definitely helped accelerate this transition through the creation of games that are innovative, disruptive and engaging and that can be played anytime and anywhere for a matter of minutes or a matter of hours. This level of freedom has seen the industry booming, with player numbers rapidly increasing.

By spending 6 years as a social casino destination across 150+ countries and 28 markets, Pokerist has amassed some pretty impressive user statistics over the years and so for our sixth birthday, we decided to share some of the most interesting facts and figures coming out of our game. These statistics really do go a long way to highlight the growth of social casino games within the wider social gaming sphere.

Who Are Our Players?

So starting with demographic and usage stats, we found that Pokerist has a predominantly male audience with 25% of our players being female (although we are seeing this number increase year on year). The platform of choice for players is Android (55.1%) with iOS (32.25%) coming in second.

"8PM to 9PM, adjusting for time zones, sees the highest amount of players in-game with Monday being the most active day of the week."

A good indication of how more people are engaging in social casinos games year on year is that the average player session duration increased by an impressive one third between 2014 and 2016. Considering the fact that some recent reports found that people now spend less time playing mobile games (and more time watching others play), makes this finding even more interesting.

"Looking at where our players are in the world, the research showed that the countries responsible for the longest average time spent in app showed Norway at #1, followed by the USA and then Sweden in at #3."

Interestingly, although players from Norway and Sweden rank in the top three countries for time spent in app, they have some way to go in closing the gap in rankings with the top ten most skilled poker playing countries. Based on skill levels, the homes of the top players were:

  1. Hong Kong
  2. Singapore
  3. Canada
  4. Netherlands
  5. Australia
  6. Switzerland
  7. Spain
  8. USA
  9. Taiwan
  10. Germany

Social At The Core!

One of KamaGames big goals and focus over the years, and what we think really makes our catalogue of games really stand out, is the huge social element of player interaction. Pokerist’s ability to connect players and allow them to chat with one another has always been at the core of our game.  To help us identify which country actually had the friendliest Pokerist players we asked our data scientists to crunch the numbers.

Amongst some of the “friendliest” nations appears to be Yemen with 21.75% of players from that country having at least one friend connection. Singapore at 20.78% and Spain at 18.11% are also up there in the top 5 too.

Singapore (33.5%) is behind Uzbekistan (36.5%) when it comes to gift giving and you’ll all be glad to know that romance is alive and kicking in South Korea and Australia as players from here top our rankings for the highest share of kisses and flowers sent to others. At the same time, players from the Middle East show very high levels of engagement across all aspects of the social elements of the game.

Always Generous!

As well as chatting, kissing, making friends and occasionally actually playing poker, our players are also incredibly generous with their winnings. Our final set of stats takes a look at what the most popular in-game purchases made by our players with their table winning are and what they are by type and country.

Taking a broad look at all players, we can definitely see that treasure appears to be the most popular gift type amongst players with an astonishing 85% of all purchasing coming from this category with transport (cars, bikes etc), boats and houses claiming that remaining share.

It is interesting to look at the type of gifts that are popular in different countries. For instance, German players seem to prefer treasures to the other type of gifts, players from the USA like to buy transport items, boats and houses and our players from France were drawn to transport and treasures too.

What Does The Future Hold?

The social casino space is expanding and constantly changing.  Evidently, players are just as interested in the wider social aspect of gaming as playing a hand of cards. Looking at ways to further expand our social elements is a daily task for everyone at KamaGames as is looking at new features and technology such as motion capture and VR to really give our players the best in game experience possible.

Here’s to another 6 years, who knows what the future will bring…
