It’s a little-known fact that Wanha Satama in Finland was at the epicentre of the gaming industry last week.
But how? But why? You may well ask…
Well, in a summer of epic events such as the Rio Olympics and EURO 2016, it is safe to say that the Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki conference rivalled both of them and was definitely the place to be (if you were in Helsinki on the 5th and 6th September).
Now in its third year, the annual gaming industry event saw just under 1000 of the gaming industry’s greatest minds rub shoulders and attend eight streams of talks over two packed days. There were some incredible highlights from the gaming get together including over 100 speakers and a staggering 2,000 business meetings and pitches taking place over the 2 days. Networking & learning weren’t just centred to the conference timetable as attendees managed to squeeze in an additional 80 hours of various fringe content over the course of the two days too including a game jam and the VIP and Speaker mixer.
The fun didn’t stop when the conference finished... oh no! Delegates, speakers and guests all got to dance the night away at the legendary Pocket Gamer Connects after-party which was sponsored by KamaGames and our friends and keepers of those Angry Birds, Rovio Entertainment.
Taking place directly after the first day of talks, the after party turned out to be the ideal place for attendees to show off their dance moves while partaking in a little bit of karaoke.
When the KamaGames team wasn’t networking or being the life and soul of the party they could be found serenading the crowd until the wee hours of the night with their vocal skills. If you heard “Born to Run” , “Love Shack” or “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” at any stage during the night, chances are it was one of our multi-talented team rocking the mic (or it was a cat being strangled).
Everyone on the KamaGames team had an amazing time over the two days as not only did we get to meet many amazing people, we also got the chance to catch a number of very insightful talks too.
We want to say a big thank you to everyone for coming to the after party, we hope you had at the very least #5minutesoffun as well as a great time partying like Pokerists.
Finally a big thank you to all the team at Pocket Gamer for throwing such a great conference as always.
