Following closely on the gaming coattails of E3, EA’s Gamescom event offers gamers another chance to get up close and personal with the latest news from many of the most anticipated forthcoming games releases of 2015.
Taking place in the German city of Cologne between the 5th and the 9th of August 2015, the annual exhibition is the largest computer and video game event in the world. Featuring over 800 exhibitors from nearly 45 countries, it offers a comprehensive look at the entertainment medium of the future.
With both trade and public mixing together under one roof has allowed the organisers to estimate that they will surpass 335,000 attendees for the four day event in 2015. Now in its sixth year, the event is used by games studios as a launch platform for many of their new games as well as updates on what is happening with noted franchises such as Halo, Call of Duty, Destiny and Star Wars.
Speaking of Star Wars. With the hype surround the soon to be released Star Wars: The Force Awakens continuing to grow each day, fans were sure to be excited with the footage released for Star Wars: Battlefront. News coming out of Gamescom is that Fighter Squadron will also be included in the release of this new game.
Microsoft will be using the conference as a launch platform for both their new games and further entries in many of their existing franchises. This included Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War Ultimate, Halo 5 and Crackdown. Another game that was announced during the first day of the exhibition was Quantum Break. An exclusive time travel based shooter that features Shawn Ashmore, Dominic Monaghan and Aiden Gillen. The third person shooter also has a companion live action TV series currently in production featuring the above mentioned cast.
Not to be outdone by their console brethren, a number of mobile games will also be showcased include PvZ: Garden Warfare 2, Heartstone and Real Boxing 2. With the continued growth of mobile gaming, a large number of the attendees will be keen to see what will be announced by the studios during the course of the exhibition.
